Maslinica

Maslinica is wonderful small town on the island of Šolta where you will find bays with pine wood, secluded rocky beaches and pristine sea. The view from Maslinica extends to archipelago of seven islets  – Polebrnjak, Saskinja, Stipanska, Kamik, Balkun, Rudula and Grmej.

Maslinica has also historical and architectural values, and it is in perfect harmony with its surrounding and intact nature. We can go to 1708. when the noble family Marchi requested from Venetian governor an approval to build a castle with tower to defend the village from pirat attacks. The family populated their estate with farm workers who also did fishing and seafaring. The family also commissioned the building of the church of St. Nicholas, located on the highest hill south of the bay.
Upon restoration of the castle and construction of a marina, the once small fishermen’s village became a tourist and nautical center of the island, welcoming tourists each year. A 300-year-old castle is now a carefully refurbished heritage hotel with exquisite restaurant.

Maslinica is perfect destination for everyone loving nature, intact beaches and crystal blue sea. Maslinica can offer you different activities for everyone, from cycling, hiking, rowing or diving to kayaking to one of the islets. Or you can relaxe on one of the many beaches, and one of them is in Šipkova bay – only sand beach in Šolta!

In 2012 Maslinica received a national award for the best tourist destination in the Adriatic with less than a thousand inhabitants, as an acknowledgment of its intact natural beauty and tourist achievements and in 2017 Maslinica received national award as the best Authentic Coastal Destination!

Šolta

The Island of Šolta is situated near Split, only 9 nautical miles (or 17 kilometers) distance with daily ferry lines and 1 speedboat line during the season. If you desire beaches with less people and crystal blue sea, we invite you to Šolta. The island is often called „green island“ for its intact nature. Most of the beaches are with pebbles, but there is one sand beach and you can guess, it is only few minutes from Vila Olinta.

Šolta is proud of its numerous farms, ran by families, where you can learn or just watch how to make olive oil, wine or honey.  Šolta is proud of “Dobričić” wine, an old, original grape variety that is primarily grown on the island. It is characterized by an extremely dark, ruby-red color and it is the ancestor of Plavac Mali, the best Dalmatian sort.

If you want an active vacation, Šolta offers biking, hiking, kayaking, scuba diving and various excursions, it is up to you!:)
